Buzz. Run. Repeat.

In the hum of the hive, I found patience.
In the rhythm of running, I found freedom.
Between the forest and the hive, I’ve learned that movement and mindfulness are not opposites, but partners.

The Running Beekeeper is a mindful space connecting bees, movement and nature.
Through stories and reflections I share what life between hives and trails teaches about patience, rhythm and balance.

Start Smart with AZ Hives

The AZ hive is more than a hive design.
It is a way of working with bees that values rhythm, observation, and restraint.

This free guide shares the most common mistakes beginners make with AZ hives, and how to avoid them through calmer, more thoughtful practice.

It is based on real experience, tradition, and years spent working inside bee houses, not on chasing yields or shortcuts.

If you are curious about the AZ hive, or returning to it with fresh eyes, this guide will help you understand the logic behind the system before you open your first frame.

About Me

I’m Martin, a trail runner and beekeeper who’s been working with bees for more than 30 years

Carniolian Bee - Apis mellifera Carnica
The Running Beekeeper - On the trails

I started beekeeping as a teenager, helping my father who was already working with bees.

What began as curiosity grew into a lifelong relationship with nature.

Running came later, as another way to listen to my breath, to the forest, and to the quiet rhythm of life.

Both the hive and the trail continue to teach me the same thing: patience, balance and consistency.

The latest from the blog

In my previous posts, I wrote a lot about rhythm, presence,…

Rain, wind, snow. Sometimes it feels as if nature keeps inventing…

The Circle That Never Ends. Each season brings its own rhythm. In spring the hives open and life rushes in.
